Men At Work Has To Pay Up!
Ha! Poor guys probably thought they were in the clear a long time ago! The ’80s band Men At Work have been ordered to pay royalties to the Larrikin Music group for ripping off the flute solo in their OLD hit song Down Under from the 70 year old nursery rhyme Kookaburra Sits In The Old Gumtree ! The band maintains that they unconsciously stole the original tune, and will have to pay royalties on any money they made off of the track from 2002 on, which probably will add up to about $13 all together, we’d estimate! No Doubt Suing Makers Of Band Hero
Isn’t this exactly what happened with Kurt Cobain ?! No Doubt is suing the makers of Band Hero for fraudulent inducement and breach of contract in order for them to remove their likeness from the new videogame! According to the lawsuit filed in El Lay Superior Court, the band signed a deal to appear as an avatar in the Activision game, but only to sing three No Doubt tracks. The company went back on the agreement by allowing the stars to “sing, dance and perform over sixty songs” from a variety of artists, “transforming No Doubt band members into a virtual karaoke circus act”.

Are The Weinsteins one step closer to buying their beloved Miramax back from Disney???? With Disney downsizing the company by 70% and only releasing three films under the Miramax name, could mega producers Bob and Harvey buy back the name???? Sources say that the Weinsteins would be game to buy back the rights to their studio, and would “even be happy to manage the library” if the deal goes through! Disney reps say they have no knowledge of the Weinsteins’ request, but we don’t see why they’d pass up the offer!
